Mav’s New Friends

*If you have opened the Process page, you will know that we have decided to halt this particular effort, but I wanted to leave up these pages in case the learning is helpful to anyone. All the rescues mentioned here were amazing to work with, so we strongly encourage you contacting them if you are looking to help animals in need.

We have had the great fortune of getting to know these animals and organizations with the help of some amazing rescues, special veterinarians and loving families. Over time, we hope that these pages will be filled with stories about the amazing groups out there. The icing on the cake will be if we are able 1) to raise money for Mav’s Rescue Friends to help more organizations and 2) to give more exposure to local rescues so individauls may donate to them directly. These pages put  a smile on our face every time we look through them.

We are still learning how to evaluate organizations and will not accept donations until we get better at it, so please help us out if you have any information that you feel would be beneficial to us. We know we will make mistakes and inevitably give money to some rescues that are not perfect, so please email us any feedback you have on these organizations whether positive or negative and we will do our best to incorporate it into our process. We would rather get as much information as possible before we allocate other individuals’ money.

The goal in the end is to help donations reach organizations who need money in the most efficient manner possible. To us, this means focusing on charities who use all or a significant majority of the funds on the animals and not on administration. It also means that we will need to have a view on the output possible for the amount of the donation given. We are hopeful that we will get better at this over time and that if we get good at both identifying great organizations and great projects Mav’s Rescue Friends will be an attractive place for people to donate money to over time and a resource for people to use to evaluate local rescues. Today, it often feels like we are writing for our own eyes given nobody looks at this site but you have to walk before you run. Thank you again for reading about what we are doing.

Here are some of the amazing organizations we have had the good fortune of meeting thus far in various capacities and donation sizes. We think they are all great to say the least:
